The General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality removed around 14,695 tonnes of waste from all the municipalities across the country during the recent Eid al-Adha holidays. This included 9832.42 tonnes of household waste and 4862.6 tonnes of solid waste. The department provided 664 cleaning vehicles and 2,723 workers to carry out cleaning operations round-the-clock. A total of 158 Eid prayer yards across the country were cleaned and provided with 73 new garbage containers. As many as 5,904 waste containers were washed and cleaned. The department gave special focus to the cleaning of the various beaches due to the huge turnout during the holidays.
