View oEmbed on the source websiteThe trailer itself confirms that the setting for the series is Marion, Nevada, and that it kicks off in 1955. That places it some three decades before the main events of Stranger Things, the first season of which was set in 1983.
Not giving much away, the trailer shows an establishing shot of Marion from a great distance. A flash of ominous lightning cracks in the sky, before the trailer cuts to the title card.
The trailer also confirms that Other Worlds is aiming for a 2028 release, meaning that we would expect to see casting and production news fairly soon.
“We’ve been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating,” said Matt and Ross Duffer in an official quote.
The showrunner this time will be Kate Trefry, who worked with the Duffers on the original series and the stage production, The First Shadow.
“Now, it is my insane honor and privilege to be bringing this new chapter of Stranger Things to life alongside them and our incredible director, Joe Wright.
