On November 7, Trump shared his top pick on Truth Social, writing, “I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States.”
Trump’s post continued, “I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other.” It should be noted that while Trump refers to “Kayla Harris” in his Truth Social post, the UFC champion’s name is actually Kayla Harrison.
For those not familiar with the MMA world, the “assistants” Trump mentions are some of the top mixed-martial artists. And when he says that “some are not from our Country,” he’s referring to Russian-born Makhachev and Nurmagomedov, as well as Brazilian-born Nunes (who is now an American citizen).
Following Trump’s request to “please take the job!”, White posted a pic of himself on his Instagram Stories, standing behind the White House press podium with the words, “On to the next chapter.”

White famously organized and promoted UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn last June. In May, he spoke candidly to NPR, revealing that he wanted nothing to do with politics: “I don’t know how anybody could stay involved in politics, you know, as a career politician or, yeah, it’s just, I don’t like it. I don’t like it. I think it’s dirty.”
He added, “Especially after seeing what happened to him going into that second election. The things the media said about him. It’s just, all of it’s nasty. I’m in the fight business my whole life, and I just think politics is the nastiest business there is.”
Despite White’s Instagram acceptance of the offer, CNN reported that a source close to the UFC CEO said that White had declined the invitation. As of now, White has not publicly commented on the job, and neither Trump nor the White House has revealed whether the President’s post was serious or a joke.
