Four teams have earned the coveted No. 1 seeds, including several chefs who have already made deep runs on Tournament of Champions.
The top seeds are Jet Tila and Alex Guarnaschelli in Division A, Britt Rescigno and Ashley Holt in Division B, Shota Nakajima and Kevin Lee in Division C, and Mei Lin and Alex Stupak in Division D.
Jet has reached the Tournament of Champions Final Four five times, while Ashley and Britt were both competitors in the first season of All-Star Christmas, with Ashley and Jet losing in the finals to the Voltaggio Brothers. Kevin reached the finals of Tournament of Champions VII, and Mei is the only former Tournament of Champions champion competing this season.
But the first-round matchups are where things get particularly interesting.
In Division B, Tobias Dorzon and Kenny Gilbert will face Gabe Bertaccini and Zac Young. Kenny reached the Final Four of Tournament of Champions VII, while Tobias is a seasoned competition chef and former professional football player. Across the bracket, Gabe brings his Italian culinary expertise, while Zac is one of Food Network’s most recognizable pastry specialists.
Meanwhile, Division D features a showdown that longtime Top Chef fans will appreciate: Marcel Vigneron and Hung Huynh versus Sara Bradley and Nini Nguyen.
Marcel competed on Top Chef season 2, while Hung won season 3. The two are now teammates, with Marcel also bringing a championship title from 24 in 24: Last Chef Standing. They’ll face two more Top Chef veterans in Nini and Sara, both of whom have plenty of experience in high-pressure culinary competitions.
