Ahead of the release of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, Mckenna Grace spoke with Cosmopolitan magazine during the press tour about her thoughts on acting roles that require nudity.
“At this point, I definitely don’t do nudity or very hypersexual things,” Grace said. “I respect anybody who can, but it’s terrifying to me. I don’t know if that’ll ever change. It’s not like I only do wholesome things — my character literally gets gutted by Ghostface in Scream — but my dream is to try and be a Disney princess someday.”
Grace began acting at age five, in a commercial role. Now 20, Grace also spoke to Cosmopolitan about her transition from being a “kid on set” to being an “adult on set.”
“As a kid on set, you’re expected to act like an adult until you’re on camera,” Grace said. “Then you’re a kid until everybody is mad at you because you’re acting like a kid. Now it’s cool to be an adult and be able to give my opinion and have a bit more ownership over characters. I’ve really enjoyed sitting down with producers and pitching all my ideas.”
Variety connected Grace’s perspective on nudity to Amanda Seyfried’s, another actress who recently made headlines for turning down roles with sex scenes.
“Our jobs are weird,” Seyfried said during a panel hosted by Alec Baldwin. “And as I get older, it gets weirder. We have to be romantic with people that we’re not romantic with.”
“I passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex,” Seyfried continued. “Doesn’t matter [who it’s with]…I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.”
Seyfried said that if the project came along at a later point, she might be in a different space. “But I don’t wanna deal with being naked with a stranger,” she added.
