Adam Driver has confirmed that plans for his solo Star Wars film are officially dead.
Driver, 42, made a name for himself playing Adam Sackler opposite Lena Dunham on HBO’s hit series, Girls. He went on to acclaimed roles in Marriage Story, Paterson, and Ferrari. But it was his role as Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, the son of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo and Carrie Fisher’s Leia Organa, in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, that turned him into a science fiction superstar. While plans were in the works for Driver’s own Star Wars film for several years, the actor made it clear that it’s simply not in the cards.
“Yeah. Yeah. It’s over,” Driver said on the Nov. 4 episode of The Rich Eisen Show while discussing his current project, Paper Tiger, PEOPLE reported. “No more Star Wars. We tried, we tried to do one more, but they were like ‘No, he’s dead.’ ”
While the project had a lot of work put into it, Driver made it clear it wasn’t really up to him.
“We worked on it for a few years, really and earnestly for two years. We got a script together that was really good . . . It was awesome. It was really cool. But you know, I don’t get to decide,” he said.
Driver previously shared that the project seemed like it could potentially happen. However, it didn’t fly.
“I always was interested in doing another ‘Star Wars,’” Driver said at the time, Variety reported. “We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman, and they said no. They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that.”

Is Adam Driver Married?
Yes. Driver has been married to Joanne Tucker since 2013. The couple has two children. In an interview with E! News, Driver made it clear that since his kids are growing up with “more privilege” than he had, he’s determined to make sure they have good values.
“I don’t want to get too caught in the, ‘You don’t realize what you have,’ ” Driver shared. “That’s kind of wasted energy. It is what it is.”
Driver went on to give the perfect sound bite when making it clear his children will have to work for what they want.
“They have more privilege than I had. That’s a good thing, but it could also be a trap where things are taken for granted,” he continued. “So, I try to make sure that he understands where everything comes from and that he has to work for it to get it, and I’m not giving him s–t.”
