What time do polls close on Election Day? What to know before you vote ...Middle East

News by : (NBC Chicago) -

How late can you vote in Illinois this Election Day?

Polling places will close across the state at 7 p.m., but that won’t necessarily be when the final votes are cast.

Under Illinois state law, if you are still in line when polls close, you can still vote.

“On Election Day, you can cast your ballot after the polls close if you are in line at the time listed as closing,” according to the American Civil Liberties Union.

Results are expected to begin populating in the first half-hour after polls close and be updated live as counted votes roll in. (See them live here)

For those still looking to find your polling place in the final hours of voting, here’s a guide:

Where to vote near you: Find your polling place

A “polling place lookup” feature is available on the Illinois State Board of Elections website. Simply enter your ZIP code and address on the website and click “submit” to see your polling place.

In Chicago

Chicago residents can vote at their designated polling place or at one of the 51 early voting centers across the city that will remain open through Election Day.

In the suburbs
