NFC North Notebook: Micah Parsons Could Return Soon, Kyler Murray Hamstring, Jack Campbell Update ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The NFC North is jumbled, with every team near the top separated by a game in either direction, or fewer. The Packers could be getting a big boost soon, with edge rusher Micah Parsons expected to return to practice this week.

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur said at today’s press conference that it’s “the expectation” Parsons returns to practice this week. According to LaFleur, Parsons was with the trainers today during a brief walkthrough after meetings. He says Parsons’ availability to return to practice this week will be “dependent upon the next couple of days,” but he’s hopeful Parsons will practice this week.

The Packers Could Be Getting Micah Parsons Back Soon

On Saturday, ESPN NFL insider Ian Rapoport said sources told him Parsons was expected to return to practice this week. “Parsons is set to practice next week, having hit all of his most recent rehab markers. But that does not mark the conclusion of his rehab, according to sources,” Rapoport wrote.

According to Rapoport, the team hopes to have Parsons back on the field on game day for their Thanksgiving Day matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

“For instance, the plan for next week is for Parsons to participate in individual drills during practice. The following week, if all goes well, he will be in team drills. Then there is Green Bay’s bye in Week 11, followed by the abbreviated week of preparation for the Thanksgiving Eve night game,” Rapoport wrote.

Parsons logged 12.5 sacks in 14 games with the Packers last year before his knee injury, so while the wait has been longer than Green Bay probably hoped, they’re getting a legitimate game-wrecker back in the mix whenever the team’s medical staff deems him healthy enough to return.

Parsons had this to say on a recent episode of his podcast:

“It’s just about me making sure I have all the small things fixed first,” Parsons said recently on his “The Edge” podcast. “What a lot of people don’t figure out is it’s not just the ACL. It’s like, why did the ACL happen? What was weak? Because it all works together. It’s a chain. And throughout the history of ACL, they notice if you come back early, there tends to be an overcompensation injury on the other side. … We just gonna make sure everything is right before.”

Vikings QB Kyler Murray Dealing With Hamstring Injury

Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell said quarterback Kyler Murray is dealing with a sore hamstring and will undergo a full evaluation. Murray reportedly suffered the injury during the Vikings’ loss to the Lions on Sunday, and O’Connell isn’t interested in speculating beyond today, with an evaluation scheduled.

“It’s sore today. So we’re going through a full eval of that as we work through the day,” O’Connell said.

If the hamstring becomes an issue that forces Murray to miss time, Minnesota has veteran Carson Wentz and Max Brosmer as the other quarterbacks on the roster. Wentz started for the Vikings while Murray was sidelined with a concussion earlier this season. In relief of Murray in the season opener against Green Bay, Wentz completed 12-of-19 passes for 133 yards and three touchdowns. In Week 2 against the Bears, Wentz started and completed 11-of-20 for 143 yards and no touchdowns in a rainy 9-3 victory over Chicago.

Murray returned to the Vikings’ starting lineup the following week against the Buccaneers. In six games this season, Murray has thrown for 1,022 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions, and rushed for 167 yards on 29 attempts. The Vikings will host the Buffalo Bills next week on Monday Night Football, giving them an extra day before they have to decide one way or another.
