San Francisco had a lengthy list of players on the 60-day IL and still has 49 players on its 40-man roster.
2. Options and qualifying offers
Contract options are also due today. Player, team, and mutual options will need to be settled as free agency nears. Qualifying offers are also due today. Teams can make a QO to pending free agents who have spent all season with the club and haven’t previously received it. The QO is set at $23.15MM this year. If a player rejects the QO and signs elsewhere, his original team gets a draft pick.
3. Free agency begins
The floodgates officially open at 4pm CT. The negotiating window between pending free agents and their current teams will be over, which means they can start pursuing new opportunities.
