MOIRA, N.Y. — The daughter of a woman found dead Tuesday in Moira spoke out about her mother’s death, which police linked to a chase and suicide in Wayne County.

“For her to be taken away is so selfish of that man that took her from us,” Allison Pelc said.
State police said they found Melissa Pelc-Lohr with multiple gunshot wounds at her home in Moira Tuesday morning. Troopers believed her ex-husband, Norman Lohr Jr., was connected and later found him more than 200 miles away in Wayne County, where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a truck after a SWAT response.
“She was just beautiful, like, inside and out. And she just had a light around her,” Pelc said.
Pelc, who lives in Michigan, said she remained close with her mother even after Pelc-Lohr moved to upstate New York. She said she suspected something was wrong when she learned of her mother’s death.
“I kind of just had a feeling that maybe she didn’t die naturally. You know, that something must have happened,” Pelc said.
Pelc showed News10NBC’s Erin Mahon a personal protection order a judge granted her against Lohr in 2024. Lohr was arrested in April 2025 for violating the order, and Pelc filed an affidavit in early October 2026, noting he violated the order again by reaching out to her and her mother in a group message.
Lohr was supposed to appear at an evidentiary hearing scheduled for Oct. 30, the day after he shot himself.
“I was very mad. He just. He put my mom and I through a lot,” Pelc said.
“I wish this didn’t happen. I wish that—she always hoped that I could get some sort of justice for myself. But I guess what it took for me to get justice is for her to not be here anymore,” Pelc said.
“I, I don’t even know. I’m just going to do therapy and stay with family, keep in touch, and just live day by day right now,” Pelc said.
Police released the official causes of death this week. Pelc-Lohr died of a gunshot wound to the head, which was ruled a homicide. Lohr died of a gunshot wound to the head, which was ruled a suicide.
News10NBC has reached out to New York State Police to ask whether the case remains open. Police have not responded.
