On Oct. 22, Dalvin La Melodía made his debut at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards, performing during the pre-show. That same night, he was a first-time finalist for Top Tropical Album of the Year with his album La Bachata Volvió.
“Billboard has been part of my journey and has witnessed my entire story; I come from nothing, and I’m in shock at everything I’ve managed to achieve in such a short time. It’s priceless,” he tells Billboard. “It was a truly profound experience for me, because I always dreamed of attending major awards shows like this — and seeing that the things I once dreamed of have actually come true…it’s just wonderful.”
But only three years ago, Dalvin — an emerging bachata artist — was just a normal young adult in the Dominican Republic working a nine-to-five job to “survive” and support his family. His rise to fame has happened in an organic, rapid, and natural way; in fact, he never took professional singing classes, but rather began honing his craft at the age of five when he would sing at church with his father accompanying him on the guitar.
It wasn’t until 2022 that a close friend of his encouraged him to upload singing videos on social media —and effectively, his cover of Xavi’s “La Diabla” earned more than one million views on TikTok in its first 15 days. The public’s feedback is what ultimately led him to meet producer Suenala Mikey, and they have since began working on original music together.
Now, at 23, Dalvin’s melodious tenor vocals powered by passionate emotions and an appealing fusion of traditional bachata with modern rhythms has captured the hearts of many generations, including bachata icon El Chaval, who was the first to collaborate with Dalvin.
“He gave me an opportunity when I needed it, and I didn’t let him down — or, as we say, I didn’t drop the ball,” he shares. “He opened one door for me, and I kept opening the rest to become who I am today. Many people have been part of the process — I owe it first to God, and then to every single person who has contributed their own small part.”
Following the release of “Antes y Después,” his collab with El Chaval, Dalvin got the opportunity of a lifetime as the only featured artist on Better Late Than Never, the joint album of Romeo Santos and Prince Royce released in Nov. 2025.
“I had the privilege of spending time with Romeo, and he gave me a lot of advice; he also spoke highly of the bachata genre and of me,” he gushes. “He told me that what I’m doing is good, and he offered plenty of guidance on how to be a great artist and a better person.”
Why Dalvin La Melodía Is an Up-and-Coming Latin Artist
Since becoming a household name in 2025, the artist born Dalvin Antonio Núñez Vargas has been a regular on the Billboard charts, with various entries on the Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay, Hot Tropical Songs, Tropical Airplay and Billboard Argentina Hot 100 charts. Debut studio album La Bachata Volvio peaked at No. 35 on Top Latin Albums on the Oct. 24-dated chart, following his performance at the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards pre-show.
“People relate to me — especially those with limited means who have watched me succeed,” he expresses. “They haven’t lost faith; they believe that if I can do it, so can they. I’ve become an inspiration to many. People have followed my journey, and they’re eager to see what happens next. It’s incredible, because just three years ago, I was in a really bad spot — facing so much hardship — yet I never lost faith that, one day, I would make it.”

Dalvin was introduced to the masses when he was the only featured artist on Romeo Santos and Prince Royce’s Better Late Than Never album released last November. Released this Spring, “Amnesia,” like the majority of Dalvin’s music, is charged with raw emotions and deep feelings. In this specific song, produced by Suenala Mikey, the Dominican artist reminiscence about a past love. The song has become his biggest Billboard hit to date, peaking at No. 3 on Hot Tropical Songs and No. 8 on Tropical Airplay. It also charted on Hot Latin Songs and Latin Airplay.
In another star-studded collaboration, Dalvin teamed up with Puerto Rican pop star Luis Fonsi on his “Me Despido” remix. Seamlessly lacing their powerhouse vocals, the Dominican artist and Fonsi sing about that final goodbye that’s essential in any breakup. The track peaked No. 4 on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 chart this September.
What’s Next for Dalvin
Dalvin assures that many collaborations and a second studio album are in the horizon, but he opts to keep things under wraps. “We are working. Our approach is to work quietly and let our success do the talking,” he notes.
As for now, he’s enjoying his newfound fame while remaining grounded. “This process I’m going through is something wonderful. I’ve always tried to remember where I come from, so as never to lose my humility,” he says. “Sometimes it’s a bit uncomfortable — like when you’re not in the right mood, yet for a fan, you’re always expected to be ‘on.’ Fame means that a lot of people know you, but I’ve managed to handle it while keeping my feet on the ground.”
