Fans of Food Network’s The Kitchen are getting a Halloween treat they probably weren’t expecting.
The beloved cooking show, which ended its run in 2025, is returning to Food Network on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. ET. But there’s something particularly surprising about the special episode: According to co-host Jeff Mauro, it was filmed months ago, and the cast never thought viewers would actually get to see it.
“Big news hitting the airwaves as of today,” Mauro said in an Instagram Reel announcing the show’s return. “Ladies and gentlemen, that’s right, you may have heard the rumor. The beloved The Kitchen, which went away last year, is coming back for one more episode.”
View this post on InstagramMauro explained that the special was filmed in January, long before its Halloween airdate was confirmed. “One super-special episode, we shot this back in January, we never thought it was gonna air and it’s airing now and we’re really excited,” he said.
Garden Slate Productions, the production company behind The Kitchen, also shared an Instagram post celebrating the show’s return. The preview features Mauro alongside familiar faces Katie Lee Biegel, Geoffrey Zakarian and Alex Guarnaschelli on the show’s kitchen set.

For now, there’s been no announcement that The Kitchen will return for additional episodes, but Mauro certainly seems interested in hearing what fans think. “We’re really excited,” he added. “My favorite holiday of the year, Halloween. We are going to air the one more episode, a brand new episode.”
