McQuaid boy’s soccer wins on golden goal, to face Fairport in Class AAA finals ...Middle East

PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) – Despite being the lowest seed remaining, McQuaid boy’s soccer won a 1-0 game over Penfield, moving in to the Sectionals championship against Fairport.

The Knights and Patriots went scoreless in the first 80 minutes of play, but McQuaid was rewarded a free kick in enemy territory about halfway through the first 15 minute overtime period. Adam McLaren booted it in a good spot, and after it was headed near the goal, Thierry Parr found no one between himself and the goalkeeper, going top shelf for the game winner.

McQuaid will play Fairport, who got past East after two first half goals from Drew Burton and Trevor Scoppa. It sets up a Sectionals final for Friday at 7:30 at Greece Athena High School.
