Officials are urging anyone using an air fryer sold at Costco and other major retailers nationwide to stop using them “immediately” over a “risk of serious burns.”
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the warning for Kalorik MAXX Air Fryer Ovens with French Doors after dozens of burn reports were received. At least one of the reports included scarring “reflective of second-degree burns.”
Investigators found the doors can “suddenly close on consumers’ arms” while the oven is still on.
The ovens were sold through major retailers like Costco, Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon and more across the U.S.
They were originally imported by Team International Group of America, Inc. and Kalorik, LLC, which went out of business and could not initiate a recall. Those companies sold the products from April 2020 to Jan. 8, 2024.
The current owner of the Kalorik brand, The Legacy Companies, LLC, which sold the products after June 23, 2025, “declined to participate in a recall,” the CPSC said.
The impacted models include the MAXX and MAXX Advance air fryers, which “may have been sold with various SKUs, Item Numbers or ‘Model’ numbers that include the basic models.”
Anyone who has one of the air fryers is being urged to “immediately dispose” of it, “following local hazardous waste disposal procedures.”
Meanwhile, Costco told customers to “please stop using it and return the item to your local Costco for a fullrefund.”
Any burn incidents or other injuries can be reported to CSPC here.
