Pat Boone is back at it again. The 92-year-old “Love Letters in the Sand” singer has some harsh words for Donald Trump. And this isn’t the first time he’s criticized the President.
Last September, Boone posted a video message to Trump on Instagram, saying, “I’ve known and supported President Trump for many years, and I offer these thoughts in the spirit of friendship and concern. Sometimes the strongest thing a leader can do is say less, listen more, and let his actions speak for themselves.”
The chart-topping performer and MAGA supporter continued, “Right now I feel like you’re very tired…I think you’re wearing out and feeling the pressure and expressing yourself in ways that are not becoming to you; they’re not presidential. So may I recommend something very highly? That you be quiet. That you quit talking about the things that you want people to be proud of. Let them discover those things for themselves…And also, please be polite to women and quit calling names. And I would like to suggest that for the press to try something, to not say anything at all about you for a couple of days. Don’t even come to a press conference. Of course, you’re not wanting many of them to be there anyway. So let it be empty so there’s nobody to ask you any questions. Nobody to hear what you want to say or possibly brag about.”
Based on Boone’s most recent post, Trump didn’t heed his warning. “Just wondering if I made a mistake. I don’t think it was. Talking about when I talked out loud to the President. A lot of people heard what I was saying to my friend, trying to give him some helpful advice. In fact, several million people seem to agree with what I was trying to convince him of,” said Boone in a new Instagram post.
View this post on InstagramThe poignant post doesn’t end there. Boone goes on to share, “I must admit and say sorrowfully, I haven’t heard from him. Not that I expected to. But he has been a friend for a long time. And he knows I’ve stood up for him. I voted for him. And now in the desperation of the election coming, the Senate, the Congress, all these things at stake, he’s out on the stump doing what he apparently feels is best, bragging about what he’s been doing.”
As it turns out, bragging about what he’s doing isn’t the only thing Boone suggests Trump stop ASAP. He adds, “But Mr. President, you’re out there talking to young people who may be voting for the first time, and I really wish that you wouldn’t be imitating, as apparently it seems, some of the entertainers who are cursing with every other breath, and not caring how people are offended. Some of those words have slipped into your speeches. Asking parents and young people to vote for you. Please, sir. Clean up the language…try to speak civilly.”
