I figured we’d try to start this Monday with some good news after watching the Bears get whipped by the Packers on Sunday.
The latest Caleb Williams update is a positive one, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport says, “all signs point to Caleb Williams being back on the field this week” for the Bears. Check out the video:

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 12, 2026More from RapSheet:
“Of all the things that happened in this game, the fact that Caleb Williams was working out before the game in a pretty strenuous workout, looking pretty good, looking like himself. I mean, he looks like Caleb Williams. Right? This is a very, very good sign. My understanding at the beginning of this whole thing was three to four weeks with a hamstring. He has missed three weeks. The fourth week is next week. He was working out hard before the game, and he returned to practice before. All signs point to Caleb Williams being back on the field this week for Chicago. Which, considering the way it went this past Sunday, would be quite good news.”
This is the kind of news I needed on a Monday morning.

Things have been trending positively for QB1 lately, and Rapoport’s latest report adds more encouraging news. Again, after Sunday’s showing by the Bears, we’ll take all the good news we can get around here.

On Saturday, we discussed a report of an updated timeline that (1) suggested Williams might have had a chance to play had it been a playoff game instead of a Week 5 game and (2) said that a limited-participation practice allowed Williams (by rule) an opportunity to do a rehab workout or throwing session on the field before Sunday’s game. In case you missed the Williams workout videos that dropped before Sunday’s Bears-Packers game, some folks from the beat have you covered:

— Brad Biggs (@BradBiggs) October 11, 2026After Sunday’s loss to the Packers, Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson said Williams was close to returning to action. As I wrote yesterday, I’m not 100 percent sure “it’s going to be close” means for Johnson. After all, left tackle Ozzy Trapilo has been getting “close” for the past few weeks but still hasn’t debuted or even appeared on the active game-day roster. But the recent reporting from league insiders suggests that a return in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons could be realistic.
