It would have been cool to see Kyler Gordon make his return to the Chicago Bears for their Week 5 grudge match against the Green Bay Packers. Unfortunately, the talented (and injury-riddled) cornerback was downgraded to OUT on Saturday.
However, the team did announce the return of one key defender.
Bears Activate Noah Sewell From IR
As part of a series of roster moves announced on Saturday, the Bears are bringing linebacker Noah Sewell off injured reserve. Sewell was one of three players on the injured reserve/PUP list in their 21-day practice window who were eligible for a return this week. There is no denying that Gordon was the biggest name in the group, but we shouldn’t overlook Sewell’s potential contributions.
Here’s what we wrote about Sewell’s potential return after Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson hinted at activating a player from injured reserve before Sunday’s game against the Packers:
Sewell suffered an Achillies injury in Chicago’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 last season. Given the injury issues the Bears dealt with at linebacker in 2025, Sewell turned out to be a surprisingly valuable player. He played in 13 games (made nine starts) and collected 59 total tackles, 3 tackles-for-loss, and a forced fumble. A fifth-round pick who was part of GM Ryan Poles’ 2023 NFL Draft class, Sewell’s return would be a welcome sight with rookie linebacker Keyshaun Elliott out this week with a quad injury.
With linebacker Keyshaun Elliott ruled out this week because of a quad injury, getting Sewell back softens the blow of that loss. Defensive lineman Shemar Turner (knee) has also been downgraded to out.

I figured a practice squad back would make the jump, but Scott wasn’t the one I had in mind. Nevertheless, Chicago’s football team now has three running backs at their disposal to deploy against a Green Bay defense that has allowed the fifth-most rushing yards this season.
