We tend to think we know everything about our favorite rock stars, but somehow, they still manage to surprise us. Taylor Swift has a particular talent for doing just that. She may have millions of fans around the world, and while we already knew about her love of baking sourdough bread, it turns out her baking skills might be just as impressive as her music. Just ask Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, who couldn’t stop talking about the homemade treats the singer brought to the set.
Speaking exclusively to People at NBC’s Law & Order “Dun Dun Diner” opening on October 7, Hargitay recalled how Swift arrived with an enormous box of homemade sourdough chocolate chip cookies before filming their surprise Emmy Awards sketch.
The actress described them as possibly the best cookies she’d ever tasted, calling Swift’s baking “extraordinary.” And she wasn’t the only one impressed. “I’m kind of a cookie snob, so I was really pleased,” fellow SVU star Kelli Giddish admitted on a September episode of the Women in Entertainment podcast.
But the sweet gesture wasn’t the only thing that impressed Hargitay.
The two appeared together in a prerecorded sketch for the September 14 Emmy Awards, with Hargitay reprising her iconic Olivia Benson role and Swift playing a rookie detective. The segment poked fun at Swifties’ obsession with hidden clues and even featured Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson.
Hargitay also told the magazine that the singer was enthusiastic, collaborative and willing to try just about anything during filming. She praised Swift’s acting abilities and the excitement she brought to the entire crew.
Swift’s passion for baking has become something of a tradition among her famous friends. She’s previously gifted homemade sourdough bread to Jimmy Fallon, BBC Radio 1 host Greg James, and Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, often adding playful references to her songs.
Apparently, when Swift shows up with a homemade gift, it’s worth saving some room for dessert.
