Born in Bisbee, Arizona, in 1954, Morgan built a modest screen résumé during the 1990s and made appearances in The Last of His Tribe and the animated series, Aeon Flux. In 1997, Morgan had a cameo in Metro, the action comedy starring Eddie Murphy as a San Francisco police negotiator. He also contributed voice work to the adventure video game The Last Express, expanding his work beyond live-action film and television.
However, his biggest break came in 1996 when he played Hank Loomis, the father of Billy Loomis, in the first Scream. Hank is a lawyer who attempts to defend his son when Billy comes under suspicion during the investigation into the Ghostface killings in Woodsboro. Although Morgan had limited screen time, his character was tied to one of the film’s important family secrets.
Scream 3, which was released in 2000, revisited Hank in a cameo and revealed his affair with Maureen Prescott, the mother of Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. The revelation added another layer to the backstory behind Billy’s actions.
