Ready, set, hut! A new Dan Fogelman series is taking the field. The newest addition to the executive producer’s TV roster? The Land. The family and football drama is one project the Paradise and This Is Us creator had been trying to make for 20 years.
“For me, football has been very much in the fabric of my life and my relationship with my friends. This has been something I’ve been chasing for a very long time,” Fogelman told the Los Angeles Times in 2026.

After teaming up with This Is Us alum Sterling K. Brown for Hulu’s hit thriller Paradise, Fogelman reunited with Mandy Moore for The Land, with the actress playing Lauren Durkin, the daughter of an NFL team owner.
Shortly after production began in 2025, Moore remarked on the TODAY show: “I feel like Taylor Swift. I’ve had to learn all about the NFL. I knew nothing about the NFL.”
Before it’s game on, here is everything to know about Fogelman’s new series, The Land.
When does The Land premiere?
Fittingly, the series will kick off on Feb. 15, 2027, the day after the Super Bowl.

Is The Land a true story?
No, but Fogelman wanted to depict things that really happen. According to the Los Angeles Times, Fogelman brought in real NFL players as consultants to help with the show’s storylines.
“We’re not making this stuff up out of thin air,” the showrunner shared. “The characters are flawed and they do bad things, but the NFL has been great about that. I was worried up top, and it just hasn’t been an issue because we’re not out there looking to be salacious.”
“We’re not trying to do ripped-from-the-headlines, crazy, exaggerated versions of reality,” Fogelman added. “We want things that really happen, done accurately and in a cinematic way.”
What is The Land about?
The Land star Chace Crawford previously described the show to Collider as feeling “very much like Friday Night Lights meets Succession.”
The official synopsis for the new Hulu series reads: “After several disappointing seasons, Cleveland Browns’ head coach Danny Roarke has one last chance to turn around his football team. His fate rests on a newly drafted Ohio State quarterback — who just happens to be his son. Meanwhile, the owner, Hal Durkin, must decide which of his two daughters is best equipped to take over the team. ‘The Land’ is the story of two families, in which the high-stakes drama plays out not only on the field but also in the front offices of this NFL franchise, as a loyal fanbase wants a winning season now … or face big changes if they don’t.”
