Amazon Prime Big Deal Days is one of the best times to secure discounts on items that rarely go on sale ahead of the holiday season. On my own to-buy list this year are multiple LEGO sets for my sons, one of whom is utterly obsessed with Project Hail Mary. Christmas morning will no doubt be spectacular for him because I was able to score the LEGO Icons Project Hail Mary Set for 30% off at Amazon — and through Oct. 7, so can you.
Iconic space movies are a mainstay of our zeitgeist — think Star Wars, Apollo 13, Interstellar — and Project Hail Mary surged to cultural phenomenon status like an actual rocket after its March 2026 release. As such, sci-fi fans are racing to buy this LEGO set, with over 3,000 sold at Amazon in the past month. Considering the set’s popularity (not to mention the movie’s) and recent price drop, it could sell out quickly.

Shop at AmazonThe 830-piece set includes a microscale model of the Hail Mary spaceship with a spinning crank display stand, a Ryland Grace minifigure, and a brick-built figure of everyone’s favorite alien, Rocky. Bringing the celebrated sci-fi story to life, the kit features an interactive mechanical function: Builders can turn a crank on the base to activate a working centrifugal gravity system, sending the crew module into a simulated orbit.
Once completed, this model measures approximately 12 inches high, 9.5 inches long, and 8.5 inches wide, making it a fantastic display piece when mounted on the included gantry-style display stand. Though the set is intended for ages 18 and up, several reviewers mentioned building it as a family so that younger children could get in on the fun, while others shared that pre-teens and teenagers with prior LEGO experience handled the task solo.
If over 800 LEGO pieces sounds like an intimidating build, fear not. One novice builder had this to say about the set: “It’s very user-friendly and went together smoothly, so even if you’re new to these kits, you shouldn’t worry.” Other Amazon customers praised the “clever” design and the spaceship’s “impressive” mechanics. “The finished model captures the look of the Hail Mary beautifully,” a shopper said.
