Modelo is bringing back the seasonal winter lager it debuted last year—one that fans loved so much the company apparently had no choice but to revive it.
In the almost 365 days since the popular Mexican beer brand first launched its seasonal Noche Buena-inspired brew, Modelo fans have had plenty of new bevs to sip on—all of which seem to reflect both consumer habits and the company’s commitment to celebrating its Hispanic roots.
While “dry January” trends took off in the beginning half of the year, Modelo raised a glass to that with its “bold” and “authentic” new non-alcoholic chelada-style beverage. Then, come summer, it was pouring one out for those in the market for a higher-alcohol beverage with its debut Chelada Suprema. With fall officially upon us, we’ve come full circle and Modelo is reviving its Noche Especial Lager, a decision driven by “popular demand.”
Modelo Brings Back Noche Especial Lager for a Limited Time
The limited-edition amber lager is inspired by the late-night “good night” celebrations held annually on Christmas Eve (December 24), when families traditionally prepare their favorite foods and gather with loved ones to share the moment, exchange gifts and feast.
It features a toasted, caramel malt flavor and “a distinctively rich profile,” according to an official press release shared with Parade. The Noche Especial Lager is 5.7 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), slightly higher than the 4.4 percent in Modelo Especial.

Reviewers who tried it after its first drop in 2025 rated it highly, across the board. From beer enthusiast forums to social media platforms, the majority were pleased by its aroma, mouthfeel and flavor, earning it an overall rating of 85 out of 100 on BeerAdvocate.

One Chowhound food editor wrote that it had “just the right hint of caramel, with a scent that reminded me a bit of the burnt top of a crème brûlée.”
“This stuff is delicious,” a second reviewer shared in a Reddit post. “Smooth and decently strong. Toasty/malty on the palate with tastes of caramel and chocolate. Maybe even a bit of espresso. Mostly dry and slightly sweet/nutty finish,” they added, suggesting they’d be stocking up before the season ended.
“So good that I drank 12 of them,” another teased in a separate Reddit thread, adding that there was no aftertaste and it was “nice and smooth.”
“This is creamy, but crisp, and quite drinkable,” one more shared.
Modelo’s returning Noche Especial Lager is officially available nationwide beginning today (Thursday, October 1) in 12-oz six-packs and 24-packs at regular Modelo retailers (prices may vary)—but only for a limited time this fall and winter season.
