One local grandmother has found a way to share that love with strangers.
Bridget Josey is known as Chicago’s “Bubble Lady.”
“Bubbles bring smiles, bubbles bring laughs,” Josey said. “Anything associated with bubbles; there’s nothing negative about that. If I’m having a bad day, if my 5-year-old grandson is having a bad day. The bubbles take it away. There is something magical about bubbles.”
Over the summer, Josey decided she wanted to share her love of bubbles with others. So, she started blowing bubbles on CTA buses and various events downtown. Before long, social media was buzzing about the Bubble Lady,
“We all go through something,” she said. “Every one of us. Nobody is exempt from that. But if you can get a smile in your day, if you can get laugh in your day, if can get some bubbles in your day, that’s going to help you. You can find me anywhere in the city.”
Josey’s dream is to visit children’s hospitals and blow bubbles for kids who could use a little uplifting.
“I also want to do nursing homes,” she said. “I want it to go bigger. Wherever people need joy is where I want to be.”
