The 2028 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will run from June 9-17 which is almost a week earlier than the 2024 Olympic Trials.
On Tuesday morning, USA Swimming announced the dates for the 2028 Olympic Trials at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The meet will keep the nine-day format introduced back in 2024, but it will run from Friday-Saturday rather than the former Saturday-Sunday schedule.
One of the major complaints for the 2024 Olympic Trials was the heat in Indianapolis. The meet was held from June 15-23, and the daily high temperatures were in the high 80s and 90s for an average high of 89°F. The same year, the high temperatures from June 9-17 averaged 83°F.

The 2028 Olympics will see swimming shifted back to the 2nd week of competition, but, due to the event running earlier than any other Olympic Games this century, the first day of swimming competition will come on July 22nd.
With USA Swimming changing the Trials to run from Friday-Saturday, American athletes will get one extra day between the two meets for a gap of 35 days.
