The nomination is another nod to Swift’s country roots. She began her career in Nashville before becoming one of the world’s biggest pop stars, has won 12 CMA Awards throughout her career, including Entertainer of the Year in 2009 and 2011, and her album Fearless is the most awarded country album in music history. Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You” will compete for Single of the Year – a category dominated almost entirely by women this year – against Ella Langley’s “Be Her” and “Choosin’ Texas,” Lainey Wilson’s “Somewhere Over Laredo” and Cody Johnson’s “The Fall.”
