I remember being in the studio with Phil, and we weren’t used to working that hard on songs. But we were smart enough to know every time he asked us to do it again, it was getting better.”
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” was a smash hit. It debuted on the Billboard charts on December 12, 1964, and by February 6, 1965, it was No. 1 where it remained for a two-week run.
The song has continued to perform well over the years. Versions by Dionne Warwick in 1969 and Daryl Hall & John Oates in 1980 cemented the song as a legacy recording.
