For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Enzo Fontana from Germantown, Maryland has announced his verbal commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at the College of William & Mary beginning in the fall of 2027.

“I am honored to announce my commitment at The College of William & Mary, where I will continue my academic and athletic career. I would like to thank Mom, Dad, Rafa, Luke, and all of my family who always supported me. Thank you to my friends, teammates, and my coaches: Pat, Doug, Bruce, Jeremy, and Lee. Thank you to the Northwest High School Swim Team, the Northwest Branch Dolphins where my love for swimming began, and the Darnestown Demons where I continued on. I am forever thankful to everyone who has helped me get here, and I couldn’t have done it without your support. I look forward to joining Coach Nate, Michael, and Caleb, and continuing this journey with the William & Mary Program. Go Tribe! ”

Fontana swims for Nation’s Capital Swim Club and attends Northwest High School. He most recently competed at the 2026 NCSA Summer Championships where he finaled in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. He swam to 25th in the 200 breast, touching in a lifetime best 2:24.99 and a 26th place finish in the 100 breast with a lifetime best 1:05.88.

Back in February, Fontana swam to numerous lifetime best times at the 2026 MPSSAA 4A&3A State Championships. There he was 2nd in the 200 IM in a 1:51.19 and 4th in the 100 fly in a 50.74. He also swam a lifetime best 47.80 100 free while leading off the team’s 400 free relay.

Fontana’s Best SCY Times Are:

200 fly: 1:48.83 200 IM: 1:50.53 200 IM: 3:57.11 200 breast: 2:03.17

The William & Mary men finished 4th out of five teams at the 2026 Coastal Athletic Association Championships with 508.5 points. Aiden Bond led the team with 54 individual points including a win in the 200 free as he touched in a 1:35.03.

Based on his best times, Fontana is on the border of the conference ‘A’ and ‘B’ final in the 200 fly as it took a 1:48.70 t0 make the ‘A’ final. Zach LeMay was the team’s only ‘A’ finalist in the event as he swam a 1:47.76 for 6th. Fontana’s 200 and 400 IM lifetime bests would have made the ‘B’ final.

Fontana will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Levi Fulwiler, Liam Haas, Connor Barlotta, and Kyle Gadsby.
