The Carolina Panthers released their first official injury report of the season on Wednesday in preparation for their game with the Chicago Bears this Sunday.
Running back Jonathon Brooks (groin) was limited in Wednesday’s practice. Carolina’s starting running back is Chuba Hubbard, but Brooks has carved out a nice role behind Hubbard. Hubbard rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown against the Bears (including a 38-yard touchdown run) when the two teams met in 2024. Still, Brooks is a big part of Carolina’s backfield plans this season, and for what it’s worth, Panthers’ head coach Dave Canales seems optimistic about Brooks’ availability for Sunday despite the groin injury limiting him in practice.
Defensive tackle Bobby Brown III (back) was also limited during Wednesday’s practice.
Outside linebacker Patrick Jones II (back) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice for the Panthers. He was also absent from the team’s Monday practice.
Carolina’s injury report for Week 1 isn’t long. Still, it lists two defensive starters and a running back expected to be heavily involved in the backfield workload for Canales’ Panthers.
Here’s the Chicago Bears first injury report of the week ahead of Sunday’s contest.
