An investigation was underway on Friday after a body was found on the banks of the Fox River in Elgin, police said.
The Elgin Police Department said at around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, officers were called to the 200 block of North Grove Avenue for the report of a deceased person.
The body of a man was recovered from the banks of the river, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed no signs of injury or trauma.
The individual remained unidentified on Friday afternoon pending the notification of next of kin, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy was performed, authorities said, and the preliminary cause of death was pending toxicology results.
