WOLCOTT, N.Y. — On Thursday, around 10 p.m., the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man from the Town of Wolcott has been arrested after an investigation into domestic violence involving choking a victim.
Deputies say Brett D. Shaffer, 38, was arrested. When deputies went to the report on Larkin Road, they said he was pointing a shotgun in the air, leading to deputies telling him multiple times to drop the gun, which he later did.
During the investigation, Shaffer was found to have violated an order of protection, the sheriff’s office said. He’s also been accused of choking, pushing, shoving, and not allowing the victim to call for help, deputies added.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
He’s been charged with six counts of harassment in the second degree, physical contact violations, criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief in the forth degree, disabling equipment to prevent an emergency call to police, fire, or EMS, contempt in the first degree, violation of an order of protection involving physical contact, and menacing a police officer or peace officer.
He was taken to the Wayne County Jail, pending arraignment.
