ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Thursday was a busy day for the National Weather Service offices as they were out surveying storm damage from Wednesday to determine if the damage was the result of a tornado. NWS Binghamton confirms a tornado caused some of the damage in Waterloo, with specific details yet to come. NWS Buffalo surveyed storms in Orleans and Genesee Counties, and are waiting for those results. Tornadoes or not, we saw plenty of wind damage that many are cleaning up from.
Any showers will push south, with the slight chance of a storm in the Southern Tier and southern Finger Lakes Thursday night into early Friday morning. Aside from a slight shower chance south and west on Friday, we should see dry weather with dew points starting to drop off and the air becoming more comfortable.
The Labor Day weekend still looks good! Though it may be a little cool for some hoping to enjoy a beach, boat or pool day, it’ll be very comfortable for outdoor activities. Temperatures both Saturday and Sunday should peak in the lower 70s with low humidity and a good deal of sunshine.
