Check Out the Bears Stadium Survey, Good News For D-Line, Clark’s Fit, Caleb’s Weight Loss Journey, and Other Thursday Bullets ...Middle East

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will be on YouTube’s “Hot Ones” series later on Thursday morning. As much as I love wings, it is hard to think about eating them in weather like this. Some hot wings on a crisp autumn day, on the other hand, could probably fix what ails me.

The Chicago Bears are circulating a survey asking fans about a potential move to Hammond. You can participate in the survey here. Over at The Athletic, Kevin Fishbain has five takeaways from Bears General Manager Ryan Poles’ meeting with the media earlier in the week. One thing that slipped past me was the positive news on defensive lineman Shemar Turner. Quotes from Poles:

“He’s already doing position work off to the side. We’ll simulate some individual and practice-type things to get him prepared mentally and physically, and his endurance needs to continue to improve. But he’s working his butt off. I would imagine him being back at some point here when he gets through this little last phase of his rehab.”

“Knocking that rust off and becoming a football player, starting to get that short-area quickness and really being able to react and have the instincts come back. Especially playing defensive line, you’re getting hit from every different direction. … When that happens it’ll be great and we’ll get him back out there, but I’m not exactly sure of when that all is going to occur.”

I know that the coaching staff and front office have given votes of confidence in the defensive line. But I don’t have the same confidence in that group that they do. I hope to be proven wrong. Nevertheless, a healthy Turner could help this group be better than we expect. But I’m prepared for it. I’m excited to be here.” (Sun-Times) There is some uncertainty whether Phillips will play on the boundary or move inside to handle some slot and nickel cornerback opportunities. All things considered, it is understandable not to know where Phillips is going right now because he just got here. This is one of the benefits of having that extra week between the end of the preseason and the start of the regular season. It serves as a buffer zone and gives players who move to new teams time to get acclimated to their new situations. All in all, this might be my favorite NFL schedule tweak — and not just because I like getting the extra week of summer shenanigans. Bears quarterback Caleb Williams says he lost 10-15 pounds with the help of a nutritionist. But he also noted that he is eating more at home. “We make a lot more in house,” Williams said, via the Tribune. “We get things from farms and not large produce companies that are putting all these different things in them. And just getting closer to the roots of food and where it’s coming from has helped me tremendously.” Back in 2017, I remember posting about Bears edge rusher Pernell McPhee saying he lost 25 pounds by not eating after 7 p.nm. and drinking a ton of water. I also remember following that advice and making some weight-loss gains. Perhaps I will follow QB1’s lead and trade eating out for dining in. It’s crazy enough to work! Our countdown to our first NFL Sunday of the year continues.

— Bleacher Nation Bears (@bn-bears.bsky.social) September 3, 2026 at 8:36 AM I knew it was going to be tough to follow up Jeff Blake, but I tried my best! The Athletic’s Chad Graff has the full story about the New England Patriots’ kicking advantage at home after a tweet went nuclear on the viral scale. Also at The Athletic, the standards review of Dinna Russini’s coverage for the publication is out. You can read it here. The gist (for those who don’t want or have time to read it) is that the investigation concluded that the NFL insider violated newsroom standards, but her reporting did not show clear bias toward Mike Vrabel. I think Russini will end up back covering the NFL in some capacity, but not in a role as she had at The Athletic.

The Cubs scored five runs against The Miz … and still found a way to lose. That’s just the way things are going for this team right now. I still can’t believe NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had the gumption to drop serious (and historic) penalties and punishment on the Clippers for their part in the Kawhi Leonard Aspiration saga. This isn’t to say they didn’t deserve it. They did! I’m just so used to rich people not getting their comeuppance because they can buy their way out of punishment. What a plot twist! The latest in Tab Bamford’s 2026-27 Chicago Blackhawks preview series takes a look at the forwards.
