I thought this one-liner from Biggs about left tackle Braxton Jones was worth sharing: “It sounds like Jones has built some confidence during the preseason and training camp, and that’s vital for playing well when it counts.” I’m not totally sure how to explain this in football terms, but I can in baseball terms. Have you ever seen an infielder try to field an in-between hop, only to be unable to do so smoothly? That is what it felt like watching Jones play left tackle last season. It looked like someone who was thinking through the steps of the process rather than doing what came naturally to him. This is where I hope a year in the system and an offseason of working on refining his game while not simultaneously worrying about rehabilitation from an injury will pay off for Jones this season. Just because training camp is done doesn’t mean there isn’t stuff to work on. The Bears stumbled out of the gate in 2025. It would be nice to avoid that fate in 2026. ESPN’s Tyson Fulghum shares a fun (and potentially profitable) wager, noting that a 30+ touchdown passing season from quarterback Caleb Williams is at +275. This is sound reasoning, too:Chicago’s three bets are built around an offense that coach Ben Johnson has openly said he wants to break scoring records this year. The price betting the over on wins provides value on a team that could make a significant leap, while a bet on highest-scoring team in the NFL offers a much bigger payoff if Johnson’s proclamations prove prophetic. Williams throwing 30-plus touchdown passes directly correlates with that outcome. If Williams takes a jump alongside Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland, watch out.
