Kevin Donnelly, a former swimmer and coach with the Marlins of Raleigh, has been permanently suspended by USA Swimming for sexual misconduct.
Donnelly, 29, was initially suspended on June 25 with the distinction that the case was subject to appeal and not yet final, but on Thursday, his status was updated to a permanent suspension from USA Swimming.
He is listed with the following violations:
304.3.3 – Violation of any of the Athlete Protection Policies set forth in Article 305 (Code of Conduct 2018-19). 304.3.4 – Violation of any of the Athlete Protection Policies set forth in Article 305 (Code of Conduct 2011-17). 304.3.14 – Violation of the SafeSport Code (Code of Conduct 2020-Present). 304.3.15 – Any act of fraud, deception or dishonesty in connection with any USA Swimming-related activity (Code of Conduct 2014-17). 304.3.16 – Jurisdiction of the Zone Board of Review (Code of Conduct 2019). 304.3.17 – Violation of the SafeSport Code (Code of Conduct 2018-Present). 304.3.18 – Violation of the SafeSport Code (Code of Conduct 2019-Present). 304.3.19 – Any other material and intentional act, conduct or omission not provided for above, which is detrimental to the image or reputation of USA Swimming, a LSC or the sport of swimming (Code of Conduct 2014-18). 305.2 – Any inappropriate sexual conduct or advance, or other inappropriate oral, written, visual, or physical conduct of a sexual nature at any time, past or present toward any person under the age of eighteen (18) by (i) a coach member of other non-athlete member, or (ii) any other adult participating in any capacity whatsoever in the activities of USA Swimming (whether such adult is a member or not) is prohibited (Code of Conduct 2018).Donnelly competed as a swimmer for the Marlins of Raleigh from 2007 through 2015. He went on to coach for the club, up until as recently as 2022.
Most recently, he was listed as a coach with the Stingrays Swim Team in Virginia as of March 2026.
USA Swimming confirmed to SwimSwam that Donnelly is no longer a member.
He is not listed in the U.S. Center for SafeSport database.
SwimSwam has been unable to track down any specifics on what led to the suspension. SwimSwam has reached out to Donnelly for comment.
