Opta Analyst’s FCS football coverage includes weekly national player and team honors during the regular season, leading into Stats Perform’s season-ending awards, now in their 40th year.

Campbell’s Kamden Sixkiller, Houston Christian’s Jayven Anderson, William & Mary’s Max Lipinski and South Dakota’s Austyn Modrzewski were selected on Monday as the Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week for Week 0 college football games this past week.

In addition, the West Florida Argonauts from the United Athletic Conference were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.

Following are this week’s five honorees plus honorable mention selections:

FCS National Offensive Player of the Week

Kamden Sixkiller, Campbell, QB, Sr., 6-3, 210

Campbell upset ETSU 49-37 as Sixkiller set career highs in passing yards (343), rushing yards (95), total offensive yards (438) and pass efficiency rating (153.4). He completed 29-of-42 attempts with two touchdowns, and rushed for a pair of scores, including a 14-yarder with 1:53 remaining to clinch the CAA Football squad’s road victory.

Honorable Mention: Galen Combs, WR/ST, Robert Morris; Anthony Grigsby Jr., QB, Cal Poly; Tylan Hines, RB, Tarleton State; Charles Kellom, RB, Eastern Illinois; Donovyn Omolo, QB, Central Arkansas; Danny Shaban, RB, Colgate; Jaylon Tolbert, QB, Alcorn State

FCS National Defensive Player of the Week

Jayven Anderson, Houston Christian, LB, Sr., 6-0, 204

Anderson had a monster game in HCU’s 34-28, Southland Conference surprise at No. 19 Southeastern Louisiana – the Huskies’ second all-time win over a Top 25 opponent. He had nine tackles, including eight solos, with six going for losses and one a 7-yard sack. He also forced a fumble and blocked a field goal attempt that led into a second-quarter scoring drive to give the visitors the lead for good.

Honorable Mention: Omari Bursey, LB, Villanova; DJ Delmore, S, Southeast Missouri; Rodney Roane Jr., LB, Howard; Ashtyn Williams, LB, Central Arkansas

FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week

Max Lipinski, William & Mary, PK, Jr., 6-1, 220

Lipinski delivered from 45 yards out as time expired for his William & Mary single-game-record fifth field goal as the Tribe upset No. 8 Villanova 35-32 in the two programs’ first Patriot League game. He finished with 17 points, first making field goals of 22, 39, 41 and 40 (also in the game’s final minute) yards, and had three touchbacks on his seven kickoffs.

Honorable Mention: Chris Gundy, PR, Valparaiso; Jayden Hibbler, PR, UIW; Ben Shrewsbury, P, VMI; Zach Smith, LB, Weber State; Simon Zeidan, PK, Mercer

FCS National Freshman Player of the Week

Austyn Modrzewski, South Dakota, QB, R-Fr., 6-5, 215

In his first career game, Modrzewski dissected Central Connecticut State with a school-record six touchdown passes and a 68-yard rushing score in USD’s 59-20 rout. His seven total TDs tied for the most in an FCS game since 2022. He completed 16-of-20 attempts for 304 yards and a 306.7 pass efficiency rating and rushed for 81 yards while leading the Missouri Valley Football Conference squad.

Honorable Mention: Seth Chestnut, LB, Towson; Cade Ellis, DB, William & Mary; Trehsyn Fesili, DE, Idaho State; Andrew Ivaniciuc, PK, Jackson State; Dylan Kelly, DB, Stetson

FCS National Team of the Week

West Florida (34-31 win over No. 16 Southern Illinois)

Coach Kable Nobles’ Argonauts upset a nationally ranked opponent in their first game as an FCS program. Quarterback Ty’Ray Davis passed for two touchdowns and rushed for a 45-yard score. The defense totaled 140 return yards on three interceptions, including cornerback A’Khoury Lyde’s 44-yard pick-six, while linebacker Cameron Anderson racked up 12 tackles with three going for losses.

Honorable Mention: Houston Christian (34-28 win at No. 19 Southeastern Louisiana); South Carolina State (87-0 win over Savannah State); Tennessee Tech (38-14 win over No. 22 Monmouth)
