SPRINGWATER, N.Y. — A man was sentenced to 23 years behind bars after a Livingston County jury found him guilty of multiple sex crimes involving a child. A federal jury also found him guilty of child pornography charges.
In Livingston County Court, Patrick Steinmetz was found guilty in March of using a child in a sexual performance, aggravated patronizing a minor for prostitution, criminal sexual act. Prosectors say he sexually abused the child in 2023 in the Town of Springwater. In addition to prison time, the judge sentenced him to 15 years of post release supervision on Wednesday.
In the federal case, prosectors say Steinmetz sexually assaulted a 15-year-old over the course of about nine months and took photos and videos of the victim. He was found guilty of federal charges of producing and possessing child porn in July and is set to be sentenced on those charges on Oct. 20, facing a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 60 years.
Steinmetz was arrested back in April of 2024 after a search that began at Strong Memorial Hospital and ended at a home in Rochester the next morning. News10NBC spoke with deputies about the timeline for the search and what prompted it.
