A 15-year-old has died after he was pulled from the waters of Lake Michigan near Michigan City on Monday afternoon.
According to authorities, LaPorte County officials received a call of a juvenile struggling in the waters of Lake Michigan at approximately 1:50 p.m. Monday.
Firefighters and police officers, along with lifeguards and the U.S. Coast Guard, responded to the area of Lake Shore Drive and Shawmut Drive and began a search for the teen, according to a press release.
Eventually the teen was found and pulled from the water, but he was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later.
The LaPorte County Coroner has identified the victim in the case as 15-year-old New Jersey resident Taha Badar, according to a press release.
