VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 34-year-old driver has been arrested, his 40-year-old passenger suffered major injuries, and an officer is recovering after the impaired driver crashed head-on with a patrol vehicle on Grimes Canyon Road late Saturday night.
On Aug. 15, around 11 p.m., a California Highway Patrol-Moorpark Area (CHP) officer was driving southbound on Grimes Canyon Road, north of Moorpark, when a northbound Chevrolet pickup crossed the double-yellow lane lines and collided with the patrol vehicle head-on stated a press release from the CHP.
According to the CHP, the truck was driven by a 34-year-old Santa Paula man who investigators later determined had been impaired at the time of the crash and he sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The passenger in the truck, a 40-year-old Chatsworth woman, had major injuries after the crash and she, alongside the two other injured parties, were transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment shared the CHP.
All three are expected to make full recoveries added the law enforcement agency.
After the initial investigation, the 34-year-old driver was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol causing bodily injury noted the CHP.
