The first title of the night went to Katie Shanahan in the 200 back, helping Great Britain extend its lead to three golds. The Netherlands made the biggest jump up the medal table, collecting three medals of its own thanks to a 1-2 finish from Marrit Steenbergen and Milou van Wijk in the 100 free and a silver in the 400 medley relay. Steenbergen anchored the relay in 50.87, producing the fastest relay split in history.
Italy also enjoyed a strong session, claiming two titles and two additional bronze medals. Simona Quadarella took gold in the 800 free, while Nicolo Martinenghi topped the podium in the 100 breast. Sara Curtis added a bronze in the 100 free, and Simone Cerasuolo finished third in the 100 breast.
