Authorities have identified the victims of a double-homicide in suburban Harvey earlier this week.
According to the latest updates from Harvey police, 46-year-old Jwon Martin and 50-year-old Aaron Jones were found shot to death inside of a residence by officers responding to a “possible medical issue” just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
Those officers responded to the home near the intersection of Vine and 150th Street and discovered both Martin and Jones. Both of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two dogs were also found inside of the residence with gunshot wounds. One was dead, and the other was critically injured.
At this time, officials say there appears to be no ongoing threat to the public.
“I am heartbroken by the tragic loss of two lives in our community today,” Harvey Mayor Shirley Drewenski said in a statement. “On behalf of the City of Harvey, I extend my deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones during this unimaginable time. Let me be clear: those responsible will be held accountable.”
