If you’re willingly submitting yourself to be starving on an island for nearly a month, living in the extreme heat, the freezing-cold rain, slitting the throats of complete strangers for a million dollars, you better consider yourself a Survivor superhero. And, indeed, the 21 cast members of the upcoming 51st season of the iconic CBS reality show all feel they have something in their arsenal, a physical, strategic, or social skill that they can use to get in good with the competition before the other edge of that sword promptly stabs them in the back.But, for every superpower, there is kryptonite. A weakness or flaw in their gameplay. These could be facets that are lauded in their day-to-day lives. But they simply won’t cut out on the beach, and in fact, can lead to you getting cut in the process. Parade was given the opportunity to ask the new players what their greatest superpower and kryptonite is when it comes to the game. So that’s the number one thing that I’m nervous about, that everybody’s gonna go, “Oh, that guy’s really likable. We need to get rid of him.” Where I’m gonna flip that into another superpower is that I’m smart enough to know that. So I know I need to have some rough edges. I need to get in some fights. I need to get in some arguments so that people think they can beat me. If you’re just Smiley McLovey, you’re gonna lose this game real hard, real early. So I need to cause some conflict between people, and I know that.
