The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned of the upcoming weather conditions and the continuation of high temperatures. This coincides with the arrival of the Indian Seasonal Low—nicknamed the “Summer Monster”—which significantly increases humidity levels, thereby heightening the sensation of heat.
The EMA announced the weather forecast for August 2026, predicting extremely hot conditions during the day across most regions, and hot, humid weather along the northern coast. At night and during early morning hours, the weather will remain moderately warm and humid.
Humidity levels will continue to rise, making temperatures feel 2 to 4 degrees Celsius hotter than the actual shaded readings. Weather maps warn of fog formation between 4:00 AM and 8:00 AM on select roads connecting to and from northern parts of the country, passing through Greater Cairo, the Canal Cities, Central Sinai, and Northern Upper Egypt, with fog potentially turning dense at times on certain routes.
Additionally, intermittent winds are expected from Friday through Tuesday across parts of the Northwestern Coast, Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and Southern Upper Egypt.
According to the EMA’s statement, maximum temperatures in Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will range between 37°C and 39°C, with the apparent “feels-like” temperature peaking at 42°C on Sunday—the height of this extreme heatwave. Meanwhile, Southern Upper Egypt will record the highest overall temperatures during this period, with actual maximums ranging from 43°C to 46°C and feels-like temperatures reaching up to 47°C.
