The big teams have kept their powder dry this morning, with the exception of Canada who with only six male swimmers at the meet, have to swim at least two of their finals team in the heats.

Those two are likely Benjamin Winterborn and Oliver Dawson on the first two legs, with Josh Liendo and Antoine Sauve to come in for Benjamin Loewen and 400 IM silver medalist Lorne Wigginton tonight.

Australia go as expected on the first three legs with Isaac Cooper, Zac Stubblety-Cook, and Ben Armbruster, but give the anchor leg to Jamie Jack, who did not swim the individual 100 free.

That indicates that we will see Flynn Southam tonight on the anchor, with no appearance for Kyle Chalmers, Chalmers does have the 50 fly final tonight after qualifying first in 22.82, just off the Games record of 22.81.

The other individual 100 freestyler is Kai Taylor, who has the 200 free heats this morning and will hope to make it through a deep field into tonight’s final.

South Africa put out their ‘B’ team but are still strong with individual finalists Ruard van Renen and Chris Smith on the first two legs. Van Renen set a new best of 53.41 in the semi-finals of the 100 back last night.

Northern Ireland will swim Jack McMillan on the anchor, with Irish junior record holder Matthew Hamilton on fly and Adam Bradley on breaststroke. Namibia put their individual 50 breast finalist Ronan Wantenaar in their quartet.

England elect to use Luke Greenbank, saving likely finals swimmer Ollie Morgan and allowing Cameron Brooker and Jack Skerry to rest up for the 100 back final tonight. Greg Butler is on breaststroke, Jacob Peters on fly, and Jacob Whittle anchors.

Scotland put Evan Jones on fly, and Joshua Mitchell on breaststroke, with those two legs likely to be filled by Dean Fearn and George Smith tonight. Matt Ward and Duncan Scott are locks to come in on the backstroke and freestyle legs, respectively, while Archie Goodburn could be an option but has been focusing on the 50 this year.

Wales put freestyler Harry Milne on the fly leg with 50 breast Welsh record holder Kyle Booth on breaststroke. Fiji’s 50 free finalist Tolu Young is on the anchor for them, while Filip Nowacki will swim breaststroke for Jersey in his final swim of a historic meet.
