2026 Central American & Caribbean Games
July 28 – August 1, 2026 Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 50 meters (LCM) Live ResultsQué lo que, swim fans. The Dominican Republic is welcoming thousands of top athletes from Mexico, Cental America, the Antilles, and South America to compete at the 25th quadrennial CAC Games. While open water and preliminary sessions have already gotten underway, get your brief on what lies ahead with the swimming portion of the Games.
Many NCAA studs headline the swim line-up, not least Indiana Hoosier 2026 NCAA finalists Raekwon Noel and Miranda Grana. Noel, who competes for Guyana, is entered in five events: the 100 back/fly and the 200 fly/free/IM. Noel has no shortage of momentum on his side. At a recent Pro Swim Series in Indiana, the rising junior dropped three seconds of his 200 fly NR to 1:56.62 while adding on best times in three other events for good measure.
His female Hoosier teammate, Grana, will look to carry on momentum of her own as part of the Mexican national selection. Individually, the recent graduate is slated to swim the 50/100 backstrokes, 100 fly, and 200 IM and is also expected to contribute to relays. Grana has enjoyed recent success in all three courses of swimming, from national records to World Cup podiums to NCAA finals. Grana will go head-to-head with in-country rival and fellow recent NCAA graduate Celia Pulido in most of these events.
Mexico also brings some NCAA standouts from the Bay Area in Ava Chavez and Andres DuPont. Chavez, the Cal Golden Bear who has been flirting with Mexico’s 200 free record for some time, will get another stab this week in that event as well as the 200 IM. DuPont, who trains for Stanford, will be a centerpiece for Mexican sprints and relays.
There are also several U.S.-residing age group stars in Santo Domingo this week, including two girls from our recently-published class of 2028 recruit rankings. #6-ranked Dani Linares Danzos is fresh off a Mexican national record in the 200 back, and she will have the chance to lower that record again this week. #12-ranked Jianna Amores, who competes for the host nation, also broke national records in the 50 fly and 200 IM recently and will have the home crowd behind her. The same is true of fellow Dominican-American age group star Anabelle Perez in the sprint breaststroke races.
Alongside the youngsters, keep an eye out for more seasoned talent, such as Trini sprint dynamite Dylan Carter and newly-minted South American record holder Lismar Lyon.
The open water portion of the CAC Games has already concluded. The big story there was Mexico’s Paulo Strehlke picking up a double win amid a breakout year. Strehlke, 20, made history by winning Mexico its first ever Open Water World Cup medal in Italy earlier this summer. This weekend in the DR, he picked up decisive wins in both the 10k and 3k knockout. In the women’s events, Venezuelan Paola Perez and Mexican Dalia Moreno split wins and took bronze in the event they didn’t win. Perez got the 10k while Moreno picked up the knockout. Sandwiched between them for silver in both events was Mexico’s Yuritzi Salgado.
