Learning How To Cope will be released on Sept. 18, 2026, via Field Day Records, marking the band's first record in 13 years. Prior to the upcoming release, the band's fourth studio album, "Collider," dropped independently on Mar. 26, 2013.
"This music saved me. It helped me reconnect with empathy, with community and with the idea that everybody belongs," vocalist Will Pugh said of Learning How To Cope, per Rock Sound. "That ethos — honesty, openness, and taking care of your people — is what this record is built on. It feels different, but it still feels like Cartel."
"We’re way past the point of being able to sit back and just provide the safe space that people can go and get away from everything," Pugh explained. "Society has been doing that long enough and not having difficult conversations – and that’s just kind of over. If you’re not going to say something now, when are you ever going to f-----g say something?"
Cartel is hitting the road later this year, supporting New York pop-rockers State Champs on its U.S. tour. Kicking off on Nov. 5 in Allentown, Penn., the tour will stop in major cities across the country before commencing on Dec. 6 in Orlando, Fla.
