PEARL – Mississippi Christian University golfer Sydney Moss has added the 2026 Mississippi Women’s Amateur championship at Patrick Farms Golf Club to her growing list of accomplishments.
Moss, a Shreveport native and daughter of former LSU All American and PGA Tour player Perry Moss, had previously won two Louisiana junior championships and one Louisiana State Women’s Amateur title.
Jackson State golfer Maddy Beeching, who lives in Ridgeland but is a native of Camberly, England, shot a final round 71 to tie Moss for first place the 54-hole tournament. Moss won the playoff with a par on the fourth extra hole to claim the title. Harper Hinkley of Summitt and Mississippi State also shot a final round 71 and finished third, two strokes back.
Moss held a two-shot lead entering the final round in which she shot 73. She and Beeching shot even par for the tournament.
Moss began her college career at the University of Memphis, before transferring to Stephen F. Austin and then to Mississippi Christian University where she was All-Gulf South Conference as a junior this spring.
Lee Burke of Madison won the 36-hole senior division, shooting 73-73 to edge 12-time State Amateur winner Cissye Gallagher of Greenwood by a single shot. Betty Lou Sutherland of Madison won the Grand Lady division (age 70 and over), shooting 70-71 to best runner-up Marsha Stewart of Pearl, who shot 71-74.
