Although Meneses doesn’t walk much or have huge power for a first baseman, he has excellent contact skills and generally hits for high averages in the minors.
The A’s are getting a look at rookie infielder Tommy White at first base. They’re without Nick Kurtz due to a thumb sprain, though that’s expected to be a minor absence. Martín Gallegos of MLB.com reports that Kurtz has begun baseball activities and has a chance to return by this weekend’s series in Minnesota.
