ROCHESTER, N.Y. – News10NBC continues the Yellow Alert for Saturday. Severe thunderstorm warnings and flash flood warnings are still in effect across our region through Saturday evening. The first flash flood warning is in effect until 7:00 p.m. for northern Genesee County, Monroe County, southeastern Niagara County, and Orleans County. This first flash flood warning carries a considerable threat. Additionally, a second flash flood warning is in effect until 8:15 p.m. for eastern Livingston County, southeastern Monroe County, and Ontario County. As always, do not drive through flooded roadways, slow down on highways, and be aware of your surroundings. As of 4:30pm severe thunderstorm warnings are ongoing south and east of Rochester. Severe weather will decrease in coverage through 6 p.m. The severe weather threat should be coming to an end after 7 pm.
Spotty showers and rumbles of thunder may persist before midnight, but shower coverage will greatly decrease through the evening. Low temperatures tonight will reach 63 degrees with winds staying out of the northwest between 10 to 25 mph. Monday brings much calmer weather with partly cloudy skies and a high temperature around 75 degrees. However, a hazy sky will likely last through the morning from lingering wildfire smoke. Monday’s air quality index is forecasted to stay in the moderate range tomorrow, only being an issue for those who are sensitive to pollutants. That being said, we will continue to track the wildfire smoke and keep you updated on any changes to the AQI and smoke forecast.
