ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say a 16-year-old girl has “life-altering injuries” after being attacked with a machete on St. Paul Street on Friday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. between Avenue A and Huntington Park. Officers arrived and found the teen with severe cuts across multiple areas of her body, and they immediately applied two tourniquets.
She was then rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital and went into surgery. According to RPD, her wounds are no longer considered life-threatening.
Police say they detained a male person at the scene, but there’s no word on any charges. RPD says its Criminal Investigation Section is still working its way through the investigation and is asking anyone with information to call 911. Police say that, at this point, it appears that the victim and the suspect knew each other.
