Summer Pre-Gamin’: Bulls vs Wizards (7:00 PM CT) – Projected Lineups, How to Watch, More ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

Another day, another shorthanded Summer League team set to take on the Chicago Bulls.

The Washington Wizards pulled the plug on their Las Vegas Summer League run earlier today, announcing that No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa, along with second-year players Will Riley and Tre Johnson, have been shut down for the remainder of the tournament.

But as we saw last night, that doesn’t necessarily mean the Bulls are in for a good performance.

Still winless in Summer League and still searching for encouraging outings from Noa Essengue and Dailyn Swain, this could very well be the last time we see the Bulls at full strength in Las Vegas.

Let’s see what’s in store for the Bulls tonight.

What To Watch For

Through the first two games in Chicago, the offensive production has been well below par. Obviously, it’s Summer League, so the priority is seeing Caleb Wilson, Noa Essengue and Dailyn Swain shoulder a big offensive load. But so far, they haven’t been able to play in sync or consistently complement one another. If tonight ends up being the last time we see all three suit up together in Summer League, I’d like to see them involved in actions that create easy scoring opportunities for one another. Even if the shots don’t all fall, leaving Las Vegas with some real offensive chemistry would be an encouraging sign. For Caleb, I think it’s fine if we continue to see him struggle as a ball handler. I don’t expect Wilson to be a primary initiator at any point in his career, especially on a Summer League team that already lacks a true point guard. That’s why I can live with the turnovers for now. What I do think is a legitimate concern, though, is his free-throw shooting. For a player who is as physical as he is and draws as many fouls as he does, making just 16% of your free throws is not a good look. If he can simply get back to the 71% he shot at UNC, I think that would be perfectly acceptable, and a great area of improvement to build on. Hopefully, that starts tonight.

— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) July 14, 2026 Dailyn Swain needs to build his confidence and stop overthinking, just as Tiago Splitter described. And the best way to do that is by seeing the ball go through the net. Playing off the ball, attacking downhill and creating for himself is what made Swain the No. 15 overall pick. I’d like to believe that if he focuses on the things he already knows he does well, the confidence will follow. Then you can start experimenting with the pseudo point guard role everyone hopes he can eventually grow into. It’s simple: get him comfortable first, then start experimenting. Against a shorthanded Washington Wizards team, the opportunity should be there for Swain.

— Joel Lorenzi (@JoelXLorenzi) July 14, 2026 Noa Essengue would look a lot better if he simply played with more intent and aggressiveness. In Game 1, he at least made his presence felt defensively. Last night, though, he struggled to make much of an impact on either end of the floor. Right now, Noa gets knocked off his line too easily, whether it’s defending off the dribble or attacking the paint. That’s something that will likely improve as he adds strength over the next few years. In the meantime, he can still carve out a role by doing the little things well. Get into the passing lanes. Use those long arms to rack up steals, blocks and rebounds. Create extra possessions. He can also take on more of a playmaking role for this group. If the scoring isn’t there, helping initiate the offense and create looks for his teammates would still be a valuable contribution.
